Condition of not having a spleen. Either due to trauma or some other disease. People without a spleen (asplenic people) are at risk for certain types of infections (overwhelming post-splenectomy infection (OPSI)) that can become very serious. Asplenic individuals should always recieve pneumococcus, haemophilus influenzae, and meningococcus vaccines.
