Q: Why is pancreatic cancer considered very deadly?

A: Pancreatic cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death.
There are about 28,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer each year but only about 1,000 are expected to live 5 years (approx 3%).

What is the pancreas?

Risk factors for pancreatic cancer are:

4)Pancreatitis


Point mutation at codon 12 of k-ras is found in over 90% of pancreatic cancers.
